Dorothy Reid has lived and worked on both the East and West Coasts. She grew up in the suburbs of New York City where she attended Bellevue NYU Schools of Nursing and received her Master’s degree in Health Administration from California State University - Northridge. Dorothy has extensive experience in acute, post-acute, and long-term care and she is an ELNEC certified trainer.
As a Senior Consultant and National Director of Clinical Education, Dorothy has experience in leading organizational education priorities, and enhancing skills and competencies through the development of preceptor and mentorship programs. She is an expert in developing educational priorities as well as standards of performance for facility level educators and clinical staff.
Dorothy dedicates herself to being an outstanding facilitator with exceptional skills in consensus building and team development focused on “Performance Improvement” through utilization of Quality Assurance and Improvement. She is always proactive in developing and maintaining the clinical competencies of staff with a vision and desire to improve today’s ever-changing healthcare environment.
She is a dynamic public speaker with the ability to interface with all levels of staff, students and colleagues and her ability to communicate both orally and in writing ideas, concepts and recommendations clearly and concisely have deemed to be one of her many strengths.
She gauges the learning needs of staff through observation, formal learning assessments, and the review of quality improvement and program evaluations.
Through her use of the power in storytelling of case scenarios, she is able to assist the staff in utilizing critical thinking in developing clinical reasoning skills, thereby improving clinical outcomes.
Dorothy has demonstrated to organizations that the embracing of cultural diversity will lead to pride and a sense of value as they build team cohesiveness and she is an expert in training cultural competence and congruence in Nursing.
Dorothy has served on the advisory board for Registered Nursing Baccalaureate program, California State, Northridge; and RN Associate degree program for Pierce College and she is a member of the ANA.
